The United States has dedicated a new scientific station at the geographic South Pole--the third since 1957--officially ushering in a new support system for sophisticated large-scale experiments in disciplines ranging from astrophysics to environmental chemistry and seismology.
Always wanted to visit this place
I have been to Devon Island three times - but I have always wanted to visit Antarctica - especially the South Pole. I'll readily admit that part of the reason is the image I have of the place after having read Kim Stanley Robinson's novel "Antarctica".
