Space Elevator
Brad Edward's Company
I'm wondering if anyone can give me a link to his company's website as I'm curious to see what kind of information he has there. I googled for Carbon Designs using multiple methods and kept seeing irrelevant listings. Is he still actively pursuing nanocarbon-tube/space elevator research or has he taken on new pursuits?
Why not?
Does anybody know what the major obstacles to constructing a space elevator are or where I could find information on such? Why aren't we building one right now?
Slight Contradiction
The name "On Orbit" and the Space Elevator are somewhat at odds, since no part of the SE is actually in orbit. Sure, there's a little bit of an (equator-anchored) SE that happens to be moving in the same direction and at the same velocity as an object in an equatorial geostationary orbit, but that's pretty much a coincidence.
Spaceward Games 2008
On January 16th the Spaceward Foundation released the first official news about this years Spaceward Games 2008. The press release dealt with the Power Beaming Challenge which now stands at a cool $2 million if anyone can win it. Based on last years performances a couple of teams might have a chance this year, but they'll have to take their skills up to the next level to win.
Here's some details.
